Poll: Romney Over Obama, 47-46

According to a brand new Washington Post-ABC News poll released today, Mitt Romney leads President Obama by the narrowest of margins, 47 percent to 46 percent. The poll has a 4 percent margin of error, which means that we’re statistically in a dead heat. That’s been absolutely consistent – the two candidates were deadlocked at 47 percent according to the same poll in July.

There is typically a strong post-convention bounce for each party. With the addition of Congressman Paul Ryan to the Republican ticket, a virtual unknown with strong likability factor, Republicans can expect at least a few point bump in the polls, barring detrimental events springing from Tropical Storm Isaac. Obama will likely respond in kind from the Democratic National Convention.

The race is on.
