Single Mom Sues Chicago Over $105K in Parking Tickets

A single mom from Chicago is now suing the city, claiming that the $105,000 in parking tickets she racked up is not her responsibility. Her boyfriend, she alleges, bought a used car from her uncle for $600, registered the car in her name, and then abandoned it near O’Hare Airport, where it sat waiting … and racking up 700 parking tickets. The mom, Jennifer Fitzgerald, says that the city should have impounded the car rather than continuing to ticket it for years, and that she didn’t hold title to the car anyway.

The case goes to court early next year.
