Europe's Lost Generation: EU Youth Unemployment Hits Record High

While the United States suffers through the worst youth unemployment rate since World War II, socialistic Europe is faring no better – according to recent reports, more than 11.7 percent of all Europeans are unemployed, and 19 million young people are unemployed throughout the 17-country Eurozone. A spokesman for the European Commission, Jonathan Todd, lamented, “The level of unemployment in Europe remains unacceptably high.” In Spain and Greece, youth unemployment is nearing 60 percent overall.

Europe’s solution? More government. The EU suggests that governments be mandated to offer jobs, more education, or more training if they haven’t found a job within four months of graduation. That, of course, will require more government funding – one of the problems that has driven the EU into recession in the first place.
