NJ Plans 24 Gun Control Laws

The Democrat leadership in the New Jersey Assembly plans on ramming through 24 different anti-gun measures on Feb. 13 and 14.

Included in the measures are bans on magazines holding more than 10 rounds, the creation of even more gun free zones, prohibitions against purchasing ammunition on internet, the registration and regulation of ammunition sales, and the end of private gun sales.

The magazine ban and the end of private gun sales are measures we see Democrats pushing in other states as well, like Colorado. Neither of these measures will reduce the likelihood or even the possibility of another Sandy Hook Elementary or Aurora-like theater shooting.

The ban on internet ammunition sales will force more gun owners to get their ammunition from Wal-Mart and other outlets, where supplies are already so scarce that many people are foregoing shooting as it is. Instead, they are simply stockpiling every box of ammo they can find.

The registration and regulation of ammo sales is clear threat to liberty--for it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that names on an ammo registry for a given area are probably interchangeable with the names that would be on a gun registry for that same area. Putting two and two together here won't take long.

Equally  egregious, however, is the creation of more gun free zones. For how can all these measures be pushed in the name of increasing public safety if a key component is to create areas where the public is not allowed to defend itself? This doesn't make people safer, it just makes them easier targets.

The bottom line--Democrats in NJ have declared a war on guns and the Americans who own them.

The past several months have seen the price of gold slump even as the Fed and other central banks have accelerated their massive expansion of paper money. Gold is off about 20% so far this year with silver down almost 30%. The old adage--“don’t fight the Fed”--particularly comes to mind now because the US equity markets have been setting new highs during this same period. All of these gains are nominal, you understand, but for terrified American policy makers and investors, nominal is just fine.
