Poll: GOP Support for Rubio Plummets

As Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) continues to push ahead with the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill currently winding its way through the Senate, his popularity has dropped drastically among potential Republican voters. Rubio, who once said that without proper border security he would withdraw support for the bill, has made no move to do so despite the hole-ridden security plan embedded in the so-called Corker-Hoeven amendment.

A poll from Rasmussen shows that 58 percent of Republican voters now view Rubio positively, down from 68 percent in May and 73 percent in February. Sixteen percent of Republicans viewed Rubio unfavorably, and another 25 percent had not decided. Rubio has become the single most prominent target of ire from conservatives, many of whom feel betrayed by his backing for the immigration reform bill.
