Alleged Robber Demands Money, Armed Female Employee Does Not Comply

On May 21 a robber who entered a Fort Dodge, Iowa, text book store and demanded money was turned away by an armed female employee who refused to comply.

According to KCCI News, 22-year-old Jessica McDonald had just opened Discount Textbooks for the day “when a white male between 50 and 60 years old came into the store and started coughing. He covered his face with a bandanna and demanded money.”

McDonald opened the register to show the man there was no money in it.

The would-be robber then came around behind the counter and stood “face to face” with McDonald. He pointed a container of “mace right in [her] face” and told her to get the money.

McDonald reached into the safe, grabbed a gun, pointed it at the robber, and told him to leave. The robber fled.

Discount Textbook store manager Paul Tigges said he kept that gun in the safe so employees in McDonald’s situation would have a way to defend themselves against robbers/attackers.
