Sen. Marco Rubio: Impeachment for Obama Unlikely After Bergdahl Deal with Taliban

Sen. Marco Rubio admitted to reporters at the Senate on Wednesday that Republicans were not currently discussing the impeachment of President Obama after he broke the law requiring him to work with Congress to secure the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

“I haven’t heard anyone seriously discuss that,” he said. “At this point, we need to learn more about this topic; I’m certainly not calling for that at this point.”

Rubio suggested that impeachment was likely a losing fight, since it could never get enough votes in the Senate.

“It’s irrelevant, because we wouldn’t even have the votes in the Senate to even talk about something like that,” he explained.
