Piers Morgan Bans Madonna From CNN Show

Legitimate feud or a way to boost troubling ratings?

TV host Piers Morgan has banned Madonna from appearing on his talk shows on both sides of the Atlantic.

The former newspaper editor called the Material Girl “an irritant in my life for 20 years” and vetoed her from his CNN show when he took the reins from Larry King in January last year (11).

He conceded an apology may win her an appearance, but “other than that, it’s a lifetime ban”.

The feud was re-ignited on Twitter.com when Madonna joined the micro-blogging site earlier this month (Mar. 12), and when Morgan reminded her of the ban, the singer’s manager Guy Oseary attempted to embarrass the British journalist by revealing members of his production team had sent an invitation to Madonna to appear on his British TV show Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

TV By the Numbers:

CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight ratings for the first quarter of 2012* were down 40% among the news ad target adults 25-54 demo and down 36% among all viewers compared to the same period in 2011.

At this point, a tension-filled Madonna appearance certainly couldn’t hurt.
