In a recent Politico interview, Piers Morgan boasted that someday he’ll beat Bill O’Reilly, his Fox News competitor who throttles the gun-grabbing Brit on a nightly basis. As do Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who compete with Morgan during the same 9pm hour.
Tuesday night, however, Morgan’s 8pm first run show couldn’t even beat O’Reilly’s 11pm rerun:
Net | 11PM | P2+ (000s) | 25-54 (000s) | 35-64 (000s) |
FNC | THE OREILLY FACTOR | 1,089 | 368 | 591 |
—
Net | 9PM | P2+ (000s) | 25-54 (000s) | 35-64 (000s) |
FNC | Hannity | 1,808 | 347 | 676 |
CNN | Piers Morgan Tonight | 822 | 269 | 346 |
—
Just sayin’.
What’s most pathetic about these numbers is that thanks to Morgan’s Morton Downey Junioring, Morgan currently hosts the highest-rated program on CNN.
The trouble that network’s in cannot be overstated.
