WaPo Downplays VA Gov. Poll Showing Republican Cuccinelli Up 10
In Virginia’s hotly-contested gubernatorial race between former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, Cucinnelli has now jumped to a 10 point lead among likely voters.
The Washington Post tried to downplay the significance of the poll, which had Cuccinelli leading McAuliffe 51-41, stating, “those numbers may change before then: The poll found that barely 10 percent say they are following the campaign ‘very closely’ and that nearly half of the electorate says they’re either undecided or could change their minds.”
Cuccinelli leads by a huge margin among Republicans (he receives 95% support), conservatives (73%), and white men (62%). McAuliffe, however, is only up 57% to 21%. Among voters under 40, Cuccinelli leads by 9 points.
