Obama Hitting Spanish-Language TV Hard for Obamacare

Still desperate to convince young people to sign up for Obamacare, the President and his administration have been hitting Spanish-language media hard trolling for new enrollees.

The administration is fanning out across Latino TV during these last two weeks of March and the pending enrollment deadline of March 31. President Obama himself has appeared on Univision’s Locura Deportiva. Meanwhile, on ESPN Deportes, both the White House Chief of Staff and the Secretary of Labor are scheduled to appear. All are pushing Obamacare.

This is in addition to last week’s Spanish language townhall that Obama participated in, where he advised Hispanics to cancel their cable TV and cell phones so that they could afford their high Obamacare premiums.

Latinos, however, seem to be lagging behind all other enrollees in Obamacare, especially in California. But it is young people over all that Obama is desperate to induce to sign up.

The administration had estimated that, to keep the system from financial collapse, 38 percent of enrollees had to be made up of Americans under 35 years of age, but thus far only about 27 percent are of enrollees are from that important age demographic.

In a statement, Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, said:

Desperately needing Latinos to improve woeful ACA enlistment numbers, President Obama is now devoting unprecedented time appearing on Spanish language media. His efforts push our young people into paying more in premiums while they are told by the President to “prioritize” their personal Budgets by setting aside other badly needed purchases such as cable or cellphone plans. This is unfair, but it’s an essential part of a health care overhaul that is costing America $2 trillion.

Spanish-language media have been criticized for being thoroughly entwined with Obama and Democrats. Recently, for instance, Univision was criticized for having all-too-close ties to Hillary Clinton.
