Israel May Strike Syria Again Soon to Prevent Weapons to Hezbollah

Israel’s Tuesday strike on a Syrian arms convoy may prove to be the first shot in a new front combating terrorism in the region.

Israeli leadership has assessed the dangers posed by an unchecked Syria–including the fact that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad continues to lose control of the country–and has determined they will not allow advanced weaponry to fall into Hezbollah’s hands in the midst of the chaos.

Tzachi Hanegbi, “an incoming lawmaker in Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party,” says that Israel does not want to act unilaterally; however, they have weighed their options and realized that other Western countries do not seem to be taking steps to ensure Assad’s weapons stockpile remains accounted for.

This means Israel must go it alone, for now at least, which is exactly what they are determined to do.

Hanegbi made it clear that Tuesday’s strike may be a sign of things to come.
