Author Richard Miniter: Obama Injecting Political Correctness into Military

On Breitbart News Saturday live from CPAC, author and investigative war journalist Richard Miniter said that President Barack Obama has injected dangerous political correctness into the military and exacerbated the problems that had always existed under the surface.

Speaking to co-hosts Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, Miniter, the author of the new blockbuster book Eyes on Target: Inside Stories from the Brotherhood of the U.S. Navy SEALs, said that the Obama administration does not “like the fact that the SEALS are exclusionary.” Miniter said that “special forces have to be special” because even professional athletes fail to make the group and it is dangerous to try to make them not exclusionary.

In his book, Miniter details a gripping story about a group of Navy SEALS that spent five years trying to avenge the heinous murders of four Americans who were dismembered and dishonored by al-Qaeda in Iraq. After five years of hunting down the leader responsible for the attack, the SEALs had to ask at least ten times for permission to get the leader and eventually had to work around the bureaucracy to go through with their mission.

Miniter said that since more than half of today’s SEAL commanders “go through Annapolis” and are not the so-called “Mustangs,” the tensions that have existed between the special warfare units and “Big Navy” are increasing. Miniter gave another example of a SEAL working in Afghanistan who was inexplicably asked to shave his beard so he could meet a Naval officer who was in town for a day, even though that meant that SEAL would not be able to do his job with his unit for months until he grew back his beard. He said his book also tells the story of a Congressional Medal of Honor winner saving another Congressional Medal of Honor winner.

To tell more of these stories, Miniter is running the American Media Institute, which runs about seven to ten huge investigative news services a year in mainstream outlets to find and tell the stories that traditional outlets are not discovering.

Breitbart News Saturday can be heard every week from 10 AM to 1 PM EST.
