RG3: I'm Cleared to Practice

ASHBURN, Va., July 22 (UPI) — Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III announced Monday he has been cleared to practice six months after knee surgery.

Griffin underwent surgery in January to repair the lateral collateral and the anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee.

He was first injured last year in Week 14 of the regular season but aggravated the knee problem during the NFC wild-card playoff game against Seattle.

The Redskins open training camp this week in Richmond, Va.

Griffin was the second overall selection in the 2013 draft after he won the 2011 Heisman Trophy while playing at Baylor. He helped Washington to a 10-6 record and NFC East title.

Griffin completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 3,200 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for 815 yards and seven touchdowns.
