The online paranormal horror character called Slender Man appears to be the inspiration for another reported stabbing incident, this time involving a 13-year-old Colorado girl who allegedly attacked her mother with a kitchen knife, slashing her neck and face and puncturing her back.
According to Cincinnati’s WLWT5, the mother, who requested not to be identified, claims that her daughter’s obsession with the fictional bogeyman Slender Man may be behind the stabbing. “She was someone else during that attack,” the mother said. “I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask, a white mask… She had her hood up and had her hands covered with her sleeves ” she said.
The mother admitted that her daughter suffered from mental illness, but that she never dreamed it would come to violence. She added that her daughter often drew pictures and wrote stories with dark themes involving demons, insanity, and drifting downward into darkness. She said that her daughter claimed that she was “playing a role” and that she, also, “got the feeling she was playing a role. It didn’t feel like her at all.”
The Hamilton County, Colorado mother said she heard her daughter speak of Slender Man and that she had also written about him and included the word “killing” when referencing him. “She even created a world for Slender Man in the game Minecraft,” a video game where you build structures that protect you from nocturnal monsters.
WLWT5 also reported recently that two 12-year-old girls in Wisconsin are facing attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing a classmate in hopes of being accepted in Slender Man’s world. The victim was found with 19 puncture wounds. Slender Man’s world consists of stalking or traumatizing people. According to the Daily News, the urban legend maintains that Slender Man preys on children and has teleportation powers.
After hearing that other teens have been influenced by the stories, the worried Colorado mother is convinced that Slender Man is at the heart of her daughter’s alleged attack.
