‘Black Lives Matter’ Agitators Celebrated Infamous ’70s Cop-Killer On The Day NYPD Officer Was Shot

On May 2nd, the day NYPD Officer Brian Moore was shot by career criminal Demetrius Blackwell, the following message was posted on the Facebook page of “Black Lives Matter:”

Today, May 2nd is the anniversary of Assata Shakur’s capture and the murder of Zayd Shakur.

It is also the 10th anniversary of the FBI declaring Assata a domestic terrorist and placing the $1million bounty on her head.

Over the past year we have seen the movement and people at large elevating Assata worldwide chanting the excerpt from her letter and proudly wearing Assata Taught Me sweatshirts.

Today as #‎BlackSpring actions, rallies and gatherings begin to spring up in more than fifty cities across the country we ask that people take a moment to uplift our sister Assata Shakur by posting on social media how Assata has inspired them and why she is important to the current Black Lives Matter movement.

Indeed, “Assata Taught Me” shirts were worn by leading “Black Lives Matter” agitators during their activities on May 2nd, which included harassment of NYPD officers at their 28th and 32nd Precinct HeadQuarters.

At the event, attended by this reporter, one of the agitators recited a poem she had written dismissing Martin Luther King, Jr.’s nonviolent approach and endorsing the Baltimore “uprising” against “genocide.” Another speaker cited Communist dictator Fidel Castro (who runs a police state with racism of apartheid-like proportions, and has assisted in the genocide of black people in Ethiopia), as an ideological inspiration. The words of Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur) were frequently evoked in chants.

In 2011, Dave Jones, president of the New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association, spoke to ABC News about Joanne Chesimard:

She’s a domestic terrorist who wrapped her criminality and her abhorrent anti social behavior in a cause to try to disguise her disgust for America in this make believe 1960s radicalism … In 1973 she executed Trooper Werner Foerster with his own gun after he was already shot and didn’t represent a threat to anyone. And after she shot him she kicked him in the head to the point that hours later after he was picked up his brain was still part of the remnants on her shoe.

In the late 1970s Chesimard escaped from jail with the help of the terrorist Weather Underground and has lived in asylum in Cuba ever since. In his 2006 experience in Venezuela, then-Leftist Brandon Darby met with Catherine Murphy of TeleSUR and Medea Benjamin’s Global Exchange, who “revealed that she was the liaison between Assata Shakur, a convicted cop killer hiding in Cuba, and her US supporters and comrades.”

Patrick Lynch, president of the NYPD Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, said of Saturday’s attack: “If you attacked one of us, you’ve attacked all of us,” and described the shooter, Demetrius Blackwell, as “a miscreant who prides himself being called Hellraiser. Well, as this judge just put him behind bars, he can raise hell at Rikers Island. We’ll make sure he never raises hell on the streets of New York City ever again.”
