According a report from Journal-Gazette in Mattoon, Martinsville School District board in Illinois voted 6-0 Thursday to fire English teacher Jordan Parmenter after stomping on the U.S. flag in a lesson he gave on May 15.
Parmenter said he used the flag as part of a lesson about free speech at Martinsville Junior-Senior High School, but one of his students complained that he was being disrespectful, which he then followed up by stomping on the flag to as an example of free speech.
