A group of anti-Second Amendment students is launching a protest at the University of Texas by which they plan to show their disapproval of campus carry by carrying sex toys in plain sight on the same day that carrying a concealed weapon in class becomes legal.

Campus Carry becomes legal on August 1, 2016, but as classes will not be running a full schedule at that point the protest day is set for August 24.

The group–#C**ksNotGlocks–announced the protest via a Facebook titled Campus (DILDO) Carry:

The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis.

They explain that the University of Texas forbids the display of sex toys on campus and other things that are “obscene” in public. They cite UT Subchapter 13–200. Prohibited Expression
Sec. 13–201 to explain their point:

No person or organization will distribute or display on the campus any writing or visual image, or engage in any public performance, that is obscene. A writing, image, or performance is “obscene” if it is obscene as defined in Texas Penal Code, Section 43.21 or successor provisions, and is within the constitutional definition of obscenity as set forth in decisions of the United States Supreme Court.

Although it appears a non-sequitur at best, #C**ksNotGlocks is equivocating between sex toys and handguns carried for self-defense, claiming the former is offensive to the school while the latter is offensive to students.

The group did not address the fact that criminals on campuses around the country do not wait for campus carry to become legal before bringing guns on campus for ill intent. Rather, as we saw in Oregon on October 1, criminals bring weapons onto gun-free campuses to take advantage of situations where law-abiding students are unarmed. Campus carry takes that advantage away and gives law-abiding citizens a fighting chance by allowing them to be armed for self-defense.

Nevertheless, Complex reports that #C**ksNotGlocks has drawn 2,000 “going” responses to the RSVP on the group’s Facebook page.
