President Donald Trump warmly welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to the Oval Office on Tuesday, saying that the news reports were correct about their close relationship.

“They’re actually correct, it’s not fake news, finally, it’s not fake news,” Trump said.

The president then reached out to pick what he said was a piece of “dandruff” off of Macron’s suit, before he began speaking.

“We have to make him perfect, he is perfect,” Trump said with a laugh. “It is really great to be with you and you are a special friend.”

Macron agreed that he had an “excellent personal relationship” with Trump, promising to work with the United States on several issues including fighting terrorism and promoting peace.

“Whatever the context could be this relationship is stronger than the events,” he said, shaking Trump’s hand.

Trump and Macron will be discussing trade, fighting terrorism, the Iran deal, and the Paris climate change accord at the Oval Office on Tuesday, before a press conference later in the day and a state dinner

“We have got a very special relationship, I don’t imagine it’s ever been closer in the history of our two countries, and that’s a long and beautiful history,” Trump concluded.
