Looks like we'll see the earlier X-Men again after all, by which of course I mean the later X-Men

When I reviewed the latest X-Men movie, “Days of Future Past,” I said I thought it was a pity the original cast (who play the chronologically later versions of the characters, in films set in contemporary and near-future times) didn’t get more to do, because it was probably the last time we’d see them.

It turns out that’s not true, as writer/producer Simon Kinberg told the Daily Beast that “some of the original cast” would be involved in the next movie, “X-Men: Apocalypse.”  Presumably he’s not just referring to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

It’s an interesting idea, because they probably don’t want to horse around with time travel again (by “they” I mean both the movie screenwriters and the characters.)  The villain in this next move is, to quote Ron Burgundy in “Anchorman,” kind of a big deal, so maybe the idea is that the “First Class” team (now living in the early 1980s) won’t be able to handle him, and it’ll be up to Patrick Stewart – Ian McKellan era team (who we left in 2023, discussing Wolverine’s suddenly poor credentials for serving the school as a history teacher) to finish the job.  

Doubtless the entire future team won’t be involved, because that’s becoming a heck of an expensive cast, and “Days of Future Past” was a bit overcrowded.  On the other hand, if you’re going to rumble with Apocalypse, you don’t leave anybody on the bench.
