Study: Hollywood Is the New Big Tobacco

According to a new study released by The Journal of the American Heart Association, like Big Tobacco, Hollywood’s newest product can kill you.

Over the past few years, Hollywood has made a dramatic push to shorten the life expectancy of millions of Americans with a destructive habit called “binge-viewing.” The gateway shows to this pernicious and deadly habit can be traced back to television shows like “24” and “Lost.”

Since then, Hollywood has exploded with product deliberately produced to addict both adults and even, yes, even The Children; and not just through our television sets. This addictive product is pumped into every facet of our lives through iPhones, computers, and iPads.

According to the study, it is long past time for Hollywood to do the right thing. Like the drug Lunesta, commercials for addictive shows like “Breaking Bad,” “Justified,” and “Bates Motel” need to immediately include a warning about the possible side effects:

Watching “Game of Thrones” could result in cancer and cardiovascular irregularities; viewers who watch more than three episodes in one sitting are twice as likely to die prematurely. If your viewing binge lasts more than four hours, consult a physician.

Moreover, when full seasons of these addictive shows are released on home video, like a pack of cigarettes, stark warnings should be printed on the side of  DVD and Bluray packaging.

WARNING: Not Buying This Product Greatly Reduces Serous Risks To Your Health

Now that Hollywood has seen the science proving how deadly their product is, will they do the right thing and stop manufacturing it, or replicate the excuse we have heard for decades from the villains at Big Tobacco: all that nonsense about personal choice and responsibility.

If Hollywood doesn’t do the right thing, the federal government needs to … for the children.
