Bride Says Brawl at Fremont Reception Caused by Wedding Crashers

The brawl at a Fremont wedding reception that left two people critically wounded was caused by uninvited individuals who crashed the party, according to the bride.

She said, “They were outsiders, a bunch of boys my husband and I did not know, who found out about the party and were harassing the girls, so somebody kicked them out. They were really pissed off for being asked to leave, so when the party was over, they jumped some of the guests outside and started fighting.”

The East Bay Times reports that the reception was held at the Royal Palace Banquet Hall, which was allegedly supposed to supply seven security guards but only supplied two. Moreover, the bride — 25-year-old Manjeet Kaur — alleges that the two guards refused to intervene when the fighting began.

She said, “When the fighting broke out… [the guards] did nothing.” She said members of her family asked the guards to do something, but they replied, “Sorry, that’s not our job.”

Photographer Raja Singh said the fight broke out just after midnight, at a time when “200 guests were still at the event.” He said, “There was some kind of commotion inside the hall, some loud argument, and then people went outside and I saw 30 or 40 people fighting, beating each other up. They were mostly using their hands and feet, but some of them had metal objects in their hands and were hitting people with them.’’

Daljit Gill is one of the guests who was hospitalized after the fight. He is in critical condition with “massive brain trauma.”

An outraged Kaur said, “It was a huge disappointment. And we’re especially angry with Royal Palace at how badly they ruined our wedding by not having enough security guards on hand. They had no backup plan.’’
