The building is located at 25 W. 38th St., between Fifth and Sixth Aves., in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The collapse happened at 10:30AM.

The city granted permission for a contractor to demolish the building, but reports indicate “there were no recent work violations.” The contract for demolishing the building, Sky News reports, calls for it to be replaced by a new 27-story hotel called the Aloft New York Midtown Hotel.
