The Dublin-based Ardagh glass-packaging group has made a “binding and irrevocable offer” to French construction giant Saint Gobain to acquire its Verallia North America operation for some 1.275 billion euros ($1.7 billion), Saint Gobain said on Monday.
Saint Gobain will consult with its works council before reaching a decision, it said in a statement, noting that the transaction would represent 6.5 times the company’s EBITDA in 2012.
