25-year-old singer Jade Ellis on Sunday became the fourth contestant to be ditched from X Factor after three of the judges voted to save boyband Union J.
Mentor Tulisa Contostavlos was the only judge who voted to save Ellis, and apologised to her protege for not “pulling some more ballads out of the bag”.
“We took a risk together and I apologise if it is my fault,” added the judge.
Responding to the vote, Ellis said: “To me it’s just been an amazing experience, I thank you guys for all your critique and my life starts from today.”
Louis Walsh was the first to announce his vote for Union J, saying: “I’m the mentor for Union J, I love them and I don’t want to lose them.”
