Japan logged a $7.2 billion trade deficit in December, bringing the total trade gap to a record $78 billion for 2012, official data showed Thursday.
Figures from the finance ministry showed the shortfall was 6,927.3 billion yen ($78 billion) last year, with the deficit in December alone standing at a higher-than-expected 641.5 billion yen.
