An explosion occurred at a US naval station in New Jersey on Tuesday, a Navy spokesman said, but details about possible casualties or damage remained unclear.
“We can confirm there was an explosion. Emergency responders are on the scene,” Lieutenant Greg Raelson told AFP.
Local media said the explosion took place during maintenance work on a vessel at the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Middletown, New Jersey.
WABC reported four people had suffered non-life threatening injuries.
