WRDC Signs MoU With Abu Dhabi National Chemical Company


WAM ABU DHABI, 10th September, 2013 (WAM) — The Western Region Development Council (WRDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi National Chemical Company (ChemaWEyaat). The mutual agreement aims to consolidate cooperation between the two entities through the provision of scholarships for high achieving students in Al Gharbia that are planning to pursue a career in engineering.




The MoU was signed by Mohamed Hamad bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Western Region and Director-General of the Western Region Development Council, and Ahmed S. Ghaleb Al Muhairi, CEO of Chemaweyaat, at WRDC’s headquarters yesterday, in the presence of Mohammed Abdallah Al-Qubaisi and Abu Baker Makki Madani from Chemaweyaat, in addition to Fahid Salem Al Kayumi and Mohammed Al Thahuri from WRDC.




The mutual agreement comes within the framework of the Council’s strategic progress map, which supports the development of competencies via the implementation of several initiatives dedicated to achieving this goal. These initiatives include scholarships, academic counseling programmes and the Al Gharbia Career Guide. Other initiatives have also been carried out to facilitate employment, including the signing of MoUs with a number of strategic partners, establishing recruitment and internships website, and organizing career fairs, universities fairs and others.




This agreement will allow both entities to collaborate and unite their efforts to enhance the skills and competencies of youths in Al Gharbia, linking the demands of the labour market with education programmes in Al Gharbia, and encouraging students to specialise in various aspects of engineering.




Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Al Mazrouei, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Western Region and Director-General of the Western Region Development Council, stated, ï؟ ½We are committed in our pursuit of achieving sustainable development in the Western Region and improving the communities by investing in people and developing the workforce within the framework of Al Gharbia 2030." Mr. Al Muhairi, CEO of ChemaWEyaat, said, "This agreement stems from the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, for the implementation of the strategic plan for Emiratisation, education and training of the Al Gharbia people, which will prepare them to partake in this important field”.
