The delegates of the Republican Party of Texas voted overwhelmingly to add a plank to the party platform calling for a statewide vote for returning to an independent nation. Texas GOP officials told Breitbart Texas the plank received approximately 80 percent of the delegate votes cast at the June state convention.
The hashtag #Texit was trending on Twitter the morning after the Brits voted to leave the European Union but secession and the Texas Nationalist Movement is nothing new. The president of one group says the only thing standing in the way is the Texas elected political class. He added, “They believe that the decision solely rests in their hands.”
After the Brits voted for their “Independence Day” and to leave the EU (European Union), #Texit is trending on Twitter. “June 23rd will be the day that the British people filed their papers to divorce a global bureaucracy that buried national sovereignty in bureaucratic red tape. After constant failures that left many Brits without jobs and living in a nation being colonized by migrants with no attachment to British culture, enough was enough,” as reported by Breitbart News’ Joseph Murray.
The Lone Star State has taken one more step towards Texas Independence. A resolution has passed a platform committee at the Texas GOP Convention and is now expected to go to a vote before all of the delegates.
A resolution that would have put Texas secession on the ballot for Republican primary voters has failed. Although the measure cleared its first hurdle by passing the 12-member Republican Party of Texas’ Resolution Committee, it failed soundly when submitted to the entire body of the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC).
