A suspected underage human smuggler with 14 illegal aliens in a stolen truck threw road spikes at U.S. Border Patrol agents during a chase near the Texas border. The teenage driver was fleeing in an effort to elude capture. The spikes disabled two of the Border Patrol’s SUVs.

The pursuit began when a concerned citizen called authorities about suspicious activity near the Pharr International Bridge, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Border Patrol revealed.

Agents responded to the area and spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the one that was believed to be carrying illegal aliens. As the border patrol agents tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away and threw several road spikes, called caltrops, out of the window. The spikes left two agents out of the chase as both of their SUVs ended up with flat tires.

A helicopter was called in to help in the pursuit and spotted the abandoned vehicle near one of Pharr’s main streets named Tower Road. Border patrol agents began a manhunt and caught the underage teenage driver and his human cargo of 14 illegal aliens hiding in the nearby brush.

During a search of the car, agents found more caltrops and discovered that the truck had been reported stolen out of the border city of Mission. The teenager has been turned over to Mission Police for prosecution. He is also facing charges from the Texas Department of Public Safety for possession of caltrops.
