The bloody civil war that has taken hold of the Mexican city of Ciudad Victoria has begun to spillover to other cities in Tamaulipas and the neighboring state of Nuevo Leon. The war expanded while two rival factions of the Los Zetas drug cartel continue to fight for control of trafficking territories. Local news outlets have largely ignored most of the violence in Tamaulipas.
As Breitbart Texas previously reported, two factions of Los Zetas have been at odds for the better part of four months. At the beginning of the year, one of those factions began a very aggressive push in Ciudad Victoria that has resulted in several gruesome executions and dozens of narco-banners that have sparked mass terror in the small community. While small in size, the city is the state capital of Tamaulipas and is home to all of the major government offices in the region.
One of the factions which had control of the region goes by the name of Cartel del Noreste (CDN). The new rival faction goes by the name Grupo Bravo, Vieja Escuela Zetas (Old School Zetas). The new faction has gone on the offensive as as Breitbart Texas has been reporting. The fighting has led to various beheadings, dismemberments and shootings in various sections of the city’s public areas.
The rise in violence and the silence by the local media helped spread rumors about additional terror attacks in some of the schools in Ciudad Victoria. The fear by the community and the lack of response by the Tamaulipas government resulted in most parents having their children miss school late last week.
The threat of mass absenteeism did generate a response from the Tamaulipas government. State officials issued a statement claiming that no violent incidents had taken place at any school in Ciudad Victoria. Despite the raging violence in that region, the Tamaulipas Governor Egidio Torre was quick to congratulate his staff and security forces for being able to “stop the violence”.
Breitbart Texas has confirmed with sources within Tamaulipas law enforcement that additional executions have taken place over the weekend in Ciudad Victoria, and various surrounding communities including Soto La Marina. Also according to Reynosa’s El Manana Newspaper, the violence has now spread to the neighboring state of Nuevo Leon.
Late last week, authorities in the Mexican city of Cadereyta Nuevo Leon found a human head in an ice chest. Next to the ice chest, authorities found a narco-message signed by the Vieja Escuela against the CDN.
