Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton defended her three speeches to Goldman Sachs and the amount she made for them by stating, “That’s what they offered” at CNN’s Democratic Presidential Town Hall on Wednesday.
Hillary began by saying she “made speeches to lots of groups.”
When asked if she needed to be paid $675,000 for three speeches, Hillary answered, “Well, I don’t know. That’s what they offered. So, — you know, every secretary of state that I know has done that.”
After moderator Anderson Cooper said this usually happens after secretaries of state know they won’t run for an office again, Hillary said, “To be honest, I wasn’t committed to running. I didn’t know whether I would or not.” And “You know, when I was secretary of state, several times I said, ‘You know, I think I’m done.'”
She added, “[A]nybody who knows me, who thinks that they can influence me, name anything they’ve influenced me on. Just name one thing.”
