Steve King: 'I'm Not Ready to Declare Victory' on Amnesty

Though immigration reform may have been temporarily shelved in Congress, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said he was not willing to “declare victory” yet and urged Americans opposed to comprehensive immigration reform to stay vigilant.

“I’m not ready to declare victory,” King said in an interview with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on Tuesday. He emphasized that the Senate’s immigration bill gives “perpetual” and “retroactive” amnesty to illegal immigrants.

King appeared on Breitbart News’s broadcast of the “Exempt America” rally and said if the Senate’s immigration bill became law, Americans would be the only ones on the planet that would actually not have a say on what immigration policy in the United States should be. He said conservatives need to be on the lookout for legislation that is brought “on the quick” that is deliberately done in order to ensure there is no time to understand the bill or to mount an opposition.
