A Playboy Playmate faces a six month prison sentence for publicly sharing a photo of a naked woman at a gym, according to charges filed Friday by Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer against the woman.
Dani Mathers faces a single misdemeanor count of invasion of privacy, a charge that carries a six month prison sentence and a $1,000 fine, the Washington Post reported.
“While body-shaming, in itself, is not a crime, there are circumstances in which invading one’s privacy to accomplish it can be. And we shouldn’t tolerate that,” Feuer said.
Mathers, 29, posted a photo of the naked woman on Snapchat in July at an L.A. Fitness gym with the caption, “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”
Mathers has since apologized for the photo months ago, but her actions came with a price.
Breitbart previously reported that Mathers lost her regularly-scheduled gig on KLOS 95.5’s “Heidi and Frank” show, and was banned for life from using L.A. Fitness’s facilities.
She also got a lot of flack for the photo she posted online, leading to Mathers deleting her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Now, she faces criminal charges as a result of her actions.
The Los Angeles Police Department opened a criminal investigation into the incident and asked the woman in the picture to come forward and aid in the investigation.
The 70-year-old woman in the photo cooperated with the police and is now prepared to testify in court against Mathers.
Her arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 28 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
