Illegal aliens living in College Park, Maryland, will now be able to cast votes in local elections in a major win for the open borders lobby.
During a College Park City Council meeting, members voted 4-3 to allow illegal aliens, Green Card-holders and other foreign nationals the right to vote in local elections, according to a Fox News report.
The decision was made following a previous city council meeting on the issue where residents were outraged that foreign nationals and illegal aliens would be able to vote in their elections.
One resident, Beth Debrovsky told Fox News that illegal aliens should not be given the right to vote because it’s “constitutional.”
“Although you come up here and you say that there are hundreds of citizens and residents of College Park that are for this charter, I can tell you that there are thousands against it,” Debrovsky said. “Voting is a right of the citizens. It’s plain and clear. It’s constitutional. It’s also written at the state level and it also belongs at the local level.”
Meanwhile, the Maryland city now joins six other cities and towns that give local election voting rights to illegal aliens, Green Card-holders and foreign nationals.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, an open opponent to granting legal and illegal aliens voting rights, disagreed with claims that College Park acted contrary to the constitution. In a tweet Thursday, the group said that it was legal under Maryland law, but served as an example of efforts to “incrementally desensitize” Americans to the concept of “noncitizen voting”.
In California, nearly one million illegal aliens now have driver’s licenses, allowing them to freely drive throughout the west coast, Breitbart Texas reported. In the first half of 2017 alone, more than 83,000 illegal aliens received driver’s licenses.
