Matthews: Obama ‘Tried To Avoid’ Iran In SOTU To Get Better Headlines

MSNBC’s “Hardball” host Chris Matthews argued President Obama “tried to avoid” talking about Iran to help get better headlines during MSNBC’s coverage of the State of the Union on Tuesday.

Matthews said, “I don’t think he got into Iran. … I think he tried to avoid, as someone said ahead, he was not going to do, so he wouldn’t combine two headlines. I think he’s hoping he’ll still get his headline for fixing the political system, and have a sidebar perhaps, or even the main bar, focus on the bad story over there in Iran.”
