DESTIN, FL – On Monday, Florida State Sen. Greg Evers, a candidate for the soon-to-be-open Florida first congressional district seat, announced he was giving away an AR-15 assault rifle to promote “self-reliance in the face of Islamic terrorism.”
Evers announcement comes just over a week after a terrorist shooting killing 49 people in Orlando, FL.
“President Obama went to Orlando and tried to blame what happened on an inanimate object,” Evers said to the Northwest Florida Daily News in a written statement. “The real threat is radical Islamic terrorism. Where I’m from, people ain’t gonna sit around and wait for the government to protect them, they’ll protect themselves.”
I’m not counting on Obama or Congress to protect me from terrorism, and neither should you.

Evers is currently running for the seat occupied by Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL), which includes the western part of the Florida panhandle.
