Widow of Pulse Nightclub Killer Found Not Guilty of Aiding and Abetting the Attack

A federal jury found Noor Salman not guilty on Friday of charges that she aided and abetted her late husband Omar Mateen in his ISIS-linked jihad attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Salman was also acquitted on charges of obstructing justice by giving misleading statements to law enforcement officers after the massacre.

Trial of Omar Mateen’s Wife Challenges Assumptions About Pulse Nightclub Shooting

The trial of jihadi killer Omar Mateen’s wife Noor Salman is still in the jury selection phase, but documents filed with the court have challenged some assumptions about the Pulse nightclub massacre, most notably the idea that Mateen targeted the Orlando, Florida club because it catered to gay patrons. Instead, a motion by the defense claims that Mateen scouted several other sites first and settled on the Pulse because it had weak security.

A federal judge disagreed with prosecutors that Noor Salman, the 31-year-old widow of the Islamic State terrorist who killed 49 people at a nightclub in Orlando last year, poses a danger to the public and ordered her release from jail, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.
