Rep. Cedric Richmond: ‘Absolutely’ Trump Is a Racist

Wednesday on “TMZ Live,” Congressional Black Caucus chairman Rep. Cedric Richmond  (D-LA) said President Donald Trump is “absolutely” a racist.

Host Harvey Levin asked, “Congressman, you know, you look at things like Charlottesville, you look at Donald Trump really singling out black people, Maxine Waters, LeBron James, Don Lemon and others, calling them stupid, dumb. Given a two-year history now in the White House, do you think Donald Trump is racist?

Richmond said, “Well, look, it didn’t start two years ago. We could go back to the Central Park Five when he was so adamant those young men were guilty. Took out a full-page ad saying they should get the death penalty. He never apologized for it. But today all of a sudden with Saudi Arabia he says, what happened to innocent until proven guilty? Absolutely he is.”

He continued, “He is racially challenged. I think that it’s so easy for him to presume that African-Americans and minorities in general are up to no good, are criminals, that he just doesn’t see the hypocrisy in his words from day-to-day. So with Kavanaugh and Saudi Arabia he’s saying, it’s innocent until proven guilty. But when he was in New York, he felt the need to take a full-page ad asking for the death penalty for five young African-American males, and when they were exonerated of the crime, never apologized and still stands by those words today.”

Levin pressed, “So racially challenged or racist?”

Richmond clarified, “It’s interchangeable with this guy.”
