Meadows on Green New Deal: There Are People in DC ‘Dead Serious’ About Taking Your Money, Giving It to Someone Else

On Saturday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Watters’ World,” Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, sounded off on the so-called “Green New Deal” announced earlier this week by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other Democrats.

Meadows said no one on Capitol Hill was taking it seriously, but warned perhaps they should.

“We’ve gotten to the point where we see it as ridiculous,” Meadows said. “The American people are seeing it as ridiculous. Nobody here on Capitol Hill are seeing this and taking it seriously, but they should.”

Host Jesse Watters noted the handful of 2020 Democratic Party presidential hopefuls that have praised the proposal, to which Meadows noted 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) had made overtures in the past to take away other things from Americans.

“Kamala Harris, Sen. Kamala Harris — when you really look at it, she wants to come after your insurance, your private insurance, your guns,” he added. “Now they’re saying we want to come after your airplanes, your money, your buildings. I mean, what else is next?”

“America should take notice,” Meadows added. “Because there are people here in Washington, DC who are dead serious about putting forth this extreme agenda and making sure they take your money and give it to someone else.”
