A former Illinois high school student claimed she manipulated a teacher diagnosed with cancer into having sex with her, saying she tried to convince him he would die before they had a sexual relationship.

The 20-year-old, who used to attend North Boone High School in Poplar Grove, testified in court Tuesday that she was the driving force behind the sexual relationship with her former science teacher Scott Brady that took place between December 2015 and December 2016, the Rockford Register Star reported.

“I convinced him he was going to die,” the 20-year-old woman testified. “It was more manipulation than anything. On my part. I took advantage of what I knew.”

The former student, who has not been identified because of the seriousness of the allegations, said she first met Brady in her sophomore year of high school and began texting him due to her love of soccer and science.

“He told me not to do that,” she testified. “That was inappropriate.”

Once the teen broke up with her boyfriend, Brady and the student began texting each other some more. As their relationship progressed, the messages became more sexual in nature.

“How ‘bout we go naked with red, white and blue body paint?” Brady allegedly wrote.

The former student said in her testimony that she had sex with Brady at least twice. Prosecutors disputed her account, claiming she told a detective in November 2016 that she had sex with the teacher at least six times.

Defense attorneys for Brady argued that prosecutors did not get the timeline of their relationship correct, adding that the student was of legal age and was not his student at the time of their relationship.

Brady also testified at the hearing, saying he could not have sex with the girl during that time period partly because of a “testicular mass” and a skin cancer diagnosis, WTVO reported.

If convicted of the charges against him, Brady faces between three years and life in prison for charges of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Other teachers have gotten themselves into trouble by reportedly having inappropriate relationships with their students.

Police arrested a New Jersey special education teacher on Tuesday for allegedly having sexual relations with a male student at the school where she taught.
