VIDEO: Suspects Allegedly Attack Orthodox Jewish Man in Brooklyn

An Orthodox Jewish man was reportedly attacked by several young men in Brooklyn, New York, as he walked down the street December 24.

Video footage shows the moment he walks past the group of seven men when one of them throws a folding chair at his head.

The victim turns around for a moment, then continues on his way. However, three of the men run down the sidewalk after him and two appear to punch him as he tries to walk away from them.

Monday, Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, founder of the Jewish Future Alliance, tweeted the video of the incident that occurred at Albany Avenue and Lincoln Place in Crown Heights and said he asked the victim’s permission to post it online.

“This incident demonstrates that there are many unreported incidents in New York. The attack occurred last Tuesday and was never reported to NYPD or media. I first learned of it Sunday evening and spoke to victim Monday and obtained footage,” he wrote.

When the victim finally told him of the attack, Behrman said he refused to tell the police because he did not think they could protect him.

“He believes the justice system is so messed up he is not putting his name on file. What do you tell someone like that? Chances are his fears are legitimate because they are not going to hold the suspect,” he commented.

There have been 19 officially recorded antisemitic attacks since December 10, when two suspects targeted a kosher grocery store in Jersey City, New Jersey, leaving six people dead, including the two assailants, according to the Times of Israel.

Sixteen of the recent attacks occurred in New York and New Jersey.

Sunday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani criticized Mayor Bill de Blasio for his lack of action when it came to combating antisemitism:

However, de Blasio claimed Monday that it was the safest big city in America, according to Breitbart News.

“The NYPD very, very consistently deals with quality of life crimes, hate crimes, the smaller things like graffiti for sure. Look, this is the safest big city in America. I’m very proud of what the NYPD has done.”
