Disgraced comedian Louis C.K. is lamenting his year of “hell” and lost income after engaging in admitted sexual misconduct and even allegedly aiding in hurting the careers of several women.

Speaking before an audience at New York’s West Side Comedy Club, the comedian reportedly said, “It’s been a weird year,” before claiming that the controversy forced him to lose “$35 million in an hour” thanks to the backlash over his actions.
Louis C.K. also reportedly said that he had been through “hell and back” over the last year.

The comedian has been engaging in a furtive attempt at a comeback by making “surprise,” unadvertised appearances at comedy clubs across the Big Apple to try and reignite his stand-up career.

Reviews were mixed for the latest stage show. Comedian A Marie Castillo, for one, told Laughspin that she loved the comedian’s set.

“It’s like he didn’t even skip a beat with the year he had. He was so genuine and reflected on how weird his year was, tried out some new dark and dirty material,” Castillo said. “Sounds to me he is owning up, acknowledging, and trying to figure it out.”

Once lauded as one of the nation’s top comedians, in 2017 Louis C.K. found himself faced with accusations from female comedians Dana Min Goodman, Abby Schachner, Julia Wolov and Rebecca Corry who charged that he routinely masturbated in front of them and also treated them to vulgar comments. The comedian later admitted to his abusive behavior and said that it was especially wrong because he held a position of superior power over the women, which intimidated them into staying quiet for a long time.

The offensive behavior was bad enough, but others also accused him of using his top-billed status to intimidate women into remaining quiet about his behavior and even engaging in efforts to hurt their careers for speaking out about his repulsive actions.

Louis C.K. has been slowly rolling out appearances at New York comedy clubs for the last month. His first appearance was at the end of August when he appeared without warning at the Greenwich Village comedy club. He also performed to mixed reviews at the Comedy Cellar.
