Dave Lee Travis Guilty of Indecent Assault

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis has been found guilty on one count of indecent assault.

Travis, whose real name is David Griffin, had been on trial for indecently assaulting two women and sexually assaulting a third.

He was cleared on the second count of indecent assault and the jury remains undecided on the sexual assault charge.

Prosecutors claimed that he was an “opportunist” who acted as if he had the “perfect right” to grope whoever he wanted.

Two of the allegations date back to the 1990s, when Travis was starring in pantomime, while the third is alleged to have happened in 2008.

After three days of deliberation, the jury was told they could return a majority verdict of 10 to two.

Judge Anthony Leondard QC said: “Try and reach a verdict on which you all agree. If you are not able to do so, I can accept a verdict on which 10 of you agree.”
