Axelrod Twitter Spoof Springs Up Ahead of UK General Election

A parody Twitter account of one-time Obama strategist David Axelrod has sprung into existence after the Chicago-based elections guru visited London for the first time since his appointment to Team Miliband.

Last month it was announced that Axelrod would be advising Britain’s socialist party, the Labour party, in order to try and win the election over the Conservative Party next year. The Conservatives have another Obama adviser on board: Jim Messina.

But Labour was embarrassed on the day they announced Axelrod’s arrival, calling him “David Alexrod” on their website instead. As such, the spoof Twitter account has been named accordingly:

The first retweeters of the account were GuidoFawkes bloggers, and ConservativeHome executive editor Mark Wallace.

The first tweet was as delightful as the entire idea itself: “Shut up everyone. Just shut up”, the spoof said.

Attention to detail was also key, with the spoof spelling “Labor” the American way.

The account amassed almost 100 followers in a matter of minutes.
