A man was arrested Monday afternoon after attempting to force his way onto a Royal Air Force base in Suffolk, England, which is the primary home of the United States Air Force in the United Kingdom.
RAF Mildenhall was locked down around 1300 UK time as a vehicle reportedly attempted ramming the front security gates. Shots were fired by security personnel, reports the Daily Telegraph, and the suspect is reported to have sustained “cuts and bruises”. There were no other injuries.
The official Facebook account of the airbase was used to release a short statement on the incident, which said “RAF Mildenhall locked down at 1 p.m. today following reports of a disturbance on base. The base was locked down and emergency personnel are responding to the situation.”

Mildenhall is one of the largest presences of U.S. forces in the United Kingdom and Europe, and is home to the USAF 100th Air Refueling Wing.
While the details of Monday’s incident are not yet clear, Breitbart London reported in 2016 on the conviction of 25-year-old Junead Khan, a radical Muslim who planned a Lee Rigby-style terror attack against U.S. military personel stationed at the airbase. Fusilier Lee Bigby was a British soldier run down and partially decapitated outside his barracks in London by Islamic fundamentalists in 2013.
Immediately following the attack, one of the terrorists, who was filmed by a witness, addressed the camera saying: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you. The only reasons we have done this is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for tooth.”
