TEL AVIV – The Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group on Sunday boasted that it possessed a new missile that can reach further than Tel Aviv, and turn Israeli cities into “hell.”

The Gaza-based terror group, second only to the ruling Hamas, vowed that the first missile to target Tel Aviv would be Iranian-made. PIJ launched Iranian-made missiles toward Tel Aviv in 2012’s Operation Pillar of Defense.

PIJ made the claim in a documentary aired on Iranian TV and said that it had also developed precision missiles.

The documentary was interspersed with footage of missiles, launchers and other weapons.

“We managed to develop a missile that can reach from the Gaza Strip to Tel Aviv and Netanya,” a PIJ spokesman said.

The terror group warned Israel of a  “surprise … in response to any crime it makes in the future.”

“The enemy’s act of stupidity against the Gaza Strip and its residents will turn the occupied cities and communities into hell, God willing,” the spokesman said. “The occupation has no place on the land of Palestine. It will either withdraw from it or suffer harmful blows.”

According to the terror group, its “duty” is to abduct “Zionist soldiers to swap them with jihad prisoners” in Israeli prisons.

Israel announced earlier this month that it had begun work on the final stage of construction of a 20-foot high barrier atop an underground concrete wall that aims to both prevent the digging of subterranean terror tunnels and the overland infiltration of terrorists into Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the IDF arrested two senior PIJ members, Khader Adnan and Tariq Qa’adan in Arrabeh, in the West Bank, the Shin Bet security service said.
