Obama, Holder Agree to Transfer bin Laden's Personal Body Guard

Documents show that the upcoming release or transfer of 55 inmates from Gitmo includes the transfer of a detainee who was a personal body guard for Osama bin Laden.

Idris Ahmed Abdu Qader Idris was “identified as a bodyguard for [bin Laden] shortly before the 11 September 2001 attacks.” He has been at Gitmo for nearly nine years.

Reports indicate he received advanced militant training, is an Al-Qaeda recruiter,  and is considered a high threat to the US. Because of this, a 2008 profile done on him suggests he remain in detention “under DOD control.”

Nevertheless, President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have both signed off on Idris’ release or transfer. In fact, they did so before bin Laden was even taken out by SEAL Team Six.
