Netanyahu: Potential Talks Between U.S., Iran Pointless

Responding to a report that the U.S. has agreed to enter into talks with Iran regarding their nuclear ambitions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not impressed.

Netanyahu said Israel has “no information on such contacts” between the U.S. and Iran, so he added: “I cannot say they are happening.” The Israeli PM also noted that even if the talks were to take place they would “be pointless” because “the Islamic Republic is actively using negotiations to advance its nuclear program and buy time.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman echoed Netanyahu: “The Iranian proposals are meant to buy time and cheat.”

Both the U.S. and Iran have denied that any talks have been agreed upon.
