April 23 (UPI) — A Maryland man who scored a $200 prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket decided to let it ride and bought another ticket that turned out to be worth $100,000.
The Frederick man told Maryland Lottery officials he felt emboldened by winning $200 from a $100,000 Ca$h scratch-off ticket, so he decided to use the money on another of the tickets and a few other various games at the Mount Airy Shell gas station.
The second $100,000 Ca$h scratch-off earned him the $100,000 top prize.
“I overlooked the message at first and swiped it away,” the player said of when he scanned his winning ticket. “Then I said, ‘Wait, what did I just see?'”
The player previously won a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize in 2017, which he used to earn his Master’s degree.
The winner said his latest windfall will go toward paying off bills, saving for the future and potentially buying a new car.
